Communities

The Richardson Adult Literacy Center (RALC) provides English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to hundreds of DFW adults each year from all over the world, empowering them to communicate with confidence & contribute generously to their families and communities.

Who We Are

The Richardson Adult Literacy Center (RALC) transforms lives by providing English as a Second Language (ESL) and workforce readiness programs to adults in Richardson and surrounding North Texas communities.

By learning or improving their English, adult students can better their employment opportunities, help their children in school, and become more involved community members. RALC offers in-person classes in classrooms in the Richardson/RISD area, as well as online classes.

Our Story

RALC was founded in 1990 through a collaboration between several community organizations. Members of these organizations saw that Richardson’s demographics were changing and that there were gaps within adult ESL services. The organization has succeeded for more than 30 years because of its dedicated volunteers and loyal community support.

Our Students

Every student at RALC brings determination, courage, and a deep desire to grow. They come from 58 countries and speak 29 different languages, united by a shared goal: to build a better future through English. These certificates represent more than classroom achievement—they reflect hours of hard work, resilience, and hope. We’re honored to support our students as they reach their goals and strengthen their families, workplaces, and communities.
