The Richardson Adult Literacy Center (RALC) is in search of a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead the organization.  Reporting to the Board President, the Executive Director will provide strategic direction and program oversight.

 

RALC is dedicated to providing comprehensive literacy programs to adults, fostering community engagement, and addressing adult literacy issues.

 

Responsibilities:

Program Oversight:

  • Oversee and support the Volunteer Coordinator, Student Coordinator, Program Coordinator, and Success Coach to ensure the effectiveness of RALC programs.

  • Manage and support data collection and entry functions for continuous program improvement and enhancement.

Fundraising Management:

  • Supervise all annual fundraisers, working closely with the Board to generate new fundraising ideas.

  • Research and identify opportunities for grants and other funding proposals, including writing grant proposals or supervising this function.

  • Encourage donations, memorial gifts, and organizational gifts; evaluate "in kind" gifts.

  • Develop and distribute program-end reporting to grantors and other funders.

Community Liaison:

  • Attend civic/community events and meetings to promote and represent RALC.

  • Raise public consciousness of adult literacy issues.

  • Collaborate with local nonprofit and literacy-related groups, fostering beneficial relationships.

Financial Management:

  • Manage cash flow for RALC, including donations, deposits, and disbursements.

  • Oversee monthly bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations and financial statements reviewed/approved by the finance committee.

Board Collaboration:

  • Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board and various Board committees.

  • Prepare, implement, and manage the annual budget approved by the Board.

  • Facilitate the implementation of the strategic plan.

Administrative Functions:

  • Oversees and supports office staff, including volunteers and part-time staff that supports the daily operations of the organization.

  • Ensure the RALC office is clean, safe, and well-organized.

  • Order supplies and materials to support staff, teachers, and students.

  • Oversee file management and records retention.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, nonprofit management, or a related field; or adult literacy experience.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Five years of experience managing volunteers and/or employees is strongly preferred.

  • Effective communicator with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds

  • Strong public speaker.

  • Must be able to plan and organize effectively, managing budgets efficiently.

  • Well-organized self-starter with a strong aptitude in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and comfortable with online platforms/applications.

 

Work Location: 701 W. Beltline Rd. #C-100 Richardson 75080 (with some local travel in the community) - Ability to work remotely or out of office sometimes based on staff schedules.

 

Hours: Full-time, salaried position. Expected to work 40 hours/week, with occasional evening and weekend hours.

 

Compensation: Competitive. No benefits are provided.
